About Mel

I knew Industrial Design was the path for me as soon as I read the course description when I applied for college. Industrial Design is where Graphics Design and Engineering meet and there I found just enough of both worlds to satisfy my need to create and my love for physics and mathematics. I became proficient at sketching at an early age and enjoyed creating things for myself and my siblings. Whether it was a cardboard cut-out to fold and play with or carving figures out of wood, the process engulfed me and my passion to create only grew with time. Before finishing my degree I landed what was to be a co-op job but turned out to be a full time position with a packaging firm. I have spent the past 15 years with that company on the cutting edge of innovation in ISBM and EBM, Design, CAD, prototyping and CNC programming. As you see, work is my passion but outside of my career, I enjoy playing golf, soccer and exploring nature. When I moved from Cincinnati to Illinois I found a second home in the Illinois Park District’s many preserves, parks and trails.
